CRISP Preview Party

September 14, 2010

We had a great turnout at the CRISP Preview Party this past Friday.  The CRISP show features paintings by Nancy B. Westfall, Sara Cameli and Kate Merritt Davis. Although the artists’ styles and mediums vary, the common thread is their use of color and layering.  The intensity and balance of their colors are adjusted to make for stronger compositions and more interesting pictures.

Nancy B. Westfall’s paints with acrylics, brushes large and small. Her paintings have a storybook quality of whimsy and imagination. the Atlanta artist’s painterly style and rich colors gives her work depth and insight.

Sara Cameli, a New York native turned Atlantan, uses both bold and subtle layering of colors in her oil paintings, drawing the viewer in to discover the sometimes hidden and ambiguous nature of her work.

Kate Merritt Davis recently joined Gregg Irby Fine Art. This Birmingham native uses highly saturated wax-oil pastels and graphite layered with a variety of acrylic washes to create heightened contrasts of color and value.
